Closing in on 75,000

Yes sir, we're closing in on 75,000 blog page hits; we don't call it the world's worst motorsickle blog for nothing, To celebrate, here's a random motorcycle picture. It's what we're best at doing.

Skunked again

The 2018 full Aerostich catalog is hot off the presses and nowhere to be found in its pages are the many submissions sent in by the Red Wing Ironworks crew. We try. Anyway, with Walt Ride 2018 a mere nine days away, here are some "potentials" that would make great catalog fodder. Always the bridesmaid; never the bride.

Whenever I drink coffee in Kansas City...

It's always at Blip Roasters down on the West Bottoms. Very cool coffee place that emphasizes motorcycle culture: Rat bikes? Yep. Cafe racers? Covered. Cruisers? Sure thing, Boss. Sportbikes, tourers, Eurobikes? Check, check and check. Spent Sunday AM down there hanging with a good crowd that gathers weekly for moto "church". Thanks to No. 1 (eldest child who resides in KC, for finding this place for her old man): I told her that I did not want to do "girl" stuff with her mother. Kabaam: the hammer found the nail on the first swing. Check link below and the rest is in pictures, from shitty phone camera, as usual.

Blip Roasters, Kansas City

Plenty of parking, not too many any cars at all. Noice.

Pre-ride planning on the loading docks? Old warehouse district makes for great location.

Plenty of bikes of all varieties.

Swag? Yep, Blip has you covered. No. 1 picked up my father's day gift (totally on my sugesstion.)

Every coffee place needs a Ducati.

Custom tank paint.

In the heart of the West Bottoms, filled with tons of cool, old warehouses.
And no neighbors to complain about the "dirty bikers..."

Decoration Day

It was a fitting visit to the National World War I museum in Kansas City, Mo.for a look around this Memorial Day weekend. A few pics.

A few military vehicle collectors displayed a few items including this WWII scooter.

A very large and heavy field gun.

French tank

A nicely preserved 1917 Harley Davidson from the war.

The original memorial was built in 1920s..

Another fine Ton-Up Spring Social, 2018

In pictures of no particular order.

From the moped category. Utterly bad ass.

Discussing the finer points of a beautiful Honda 350 scrambler.

Stating the obvious.

Pimpy gold Honda and pimpy gold matching skid lid. Yes.

Not yer ma's Triumph.

Lots of old British Bikes. The Royals would be pleased.

Good crowd and a lot of bikes made it.

Japanese bikes parked here. No German stuff.

Crankshaft entertained. One of our favorite one-man bands.

One of the bikes that got me hooked. A kid in my old neighborhood had one;
boy, the jealousy.

Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, it was such a fine sight to see....
Sorry, no girl in a flatbed Ford slowing down to take a look at..... any of us. Indeed.
Usual suspects.

Sunday Morning, the way it should be

Strong coffee in a Bultaco mug; one British motorcycle rag and the second edition of the revamped Cycle World. Then it's off to Minneapolis to eyeball some cool, old bikes at the Ton Up Spring Social.

Saturday, May 19, 2018

Mpls Ton Up Spring Social is tomorrow.

This looks to be bigger and badder than ever; bikes galore, vendors, beer, food,  stickers, t-shirts (because we are total whores for stickers and t-shirts) and of course, a swell time to be had by all. A new venue tomorrow, the Red Stag Supper Club in in NE Minneapolis, a fine place for your patronage. If you don't show, this will go down on your permanent record.

In honor of the Royal wedding

Some random British motorcycle pictures. God Save the Queen, yo.

It is all fake news

Yep, it is true. Everything read on this blog is fake news; including the announcement yesterday for Wednesday's gravel road ride. Not true and not happening because it's been moved to today at 5:30 PM. If you believed it was gonna happen on Wednesday, well then, you are sorta a big chump, aren't you? It will happen today as it has been officially announced by our press secretary, below. Yep, meet at the Kwik Trip. (Sorry for swapping nights).

You, in the back row: Wednesday's ride is now Tuesday's ride. Don't be no fool.

Gravel Ride Wednesday

There's been some interest in getting together weeknights for a ride; this Wednesday, 82 degrees and sunshine. A perfect afternoon for a Gravel Ride Wednesday on some fine county back roads around fabulous Red Wing. Meet up at the Kwik Trip at W. 7th and Plum @5:30 p.m.

It won't really look like this; from the '16 Northshore Shindig.

Slimy Crud Run, Spring '18 in pitchers (that's pictures for those who can enunciate)

Two days and 600-plus miles for the Slimy Crud Run, Pine Bluff to LeLand, Wis. A good time was had by all. The event, captured by us, in pictures. Here you go.

Someone rolled up on a nice Commando.

A 1991 Super T from Canada, no less. Who knew?

At the Monarch in Fountain City, Wis. We like the Manx flag.
Neal wants one.

A beautiful CB 750.

Peter Egan (right) we all know who he is, talks bikes at Pine Bluff.

Our Man-in-the-Field furiously edits tons o' pictures under extreme deadline pressure for a major metropolitan newspaper. The guy on the right is homeless.

The one and only Bultaco making the scene.

Good crowd and a bad ass ol' Gootzy in Pine Bluff.

Crusty but rideable. That's the ticket.
 t
A very lovely BSA Gold Star.

A very lovely John Player Norton

God loves BMW.

Sunbeam, the happy motorcycle.

Riding into town; Pine Bluff.

The usual suspects with Peter Egan.

And from our man in the field, additional coverage: Crud Run
