Music We Like

Every so often you come across a band that simply kicks-ass and makes great music. Not like the same-old same-old generic blah-blah-blah bands that have been around for years. Corey Medina and Brothers is a band you'll want to catch soon. And the cool thing? This trio is based out of Bemidji, MN. Yeah, we like to talk motorcycle smack here at the Ironworks' blog, but good music is also part of the game.

Things You Might See While Riding West of Here

1) Guys who randomly pull giant crosses over bare stretches of road in the middle of nowhere.
2) Guys who will help you repair flat tires caused by pointy things left on the road.

As usual, more pix from the Man-In-The-Field as he makes his way back from Seattle, which is located in the state of Washington.

Enjoy and Happy Monday.

A new direction at Harley? Say what?

Yep, according to Cycle World, Harley is doing a re-think of models it will market for 2019. Probably not a bad idea since there has been little-to-no  H-D motorcycle model development for what, 25-plus years? Check out the link; some are interesting (yes, the Streetfighter has a ton of potential; another 900-pound Grandpa Glide? Not so much.)

Red Wing Boots in England

Picked up a copy of "Built" magazine recently. This is a hipster motorcycle mag from England that has a lot of articles about trends across the pond, and tons of great pictures.  The  mag's specialty is covering stories about cafe racers, scramblers, and bobbers. Truth be told, I've been on a British motorcycle magazine tear for the past year (thanks Barnes and Noble), and "Built" is one that I pick up every so often. Looking through issue  #14, I spotted an interesting ad from, - of all manufacturers - Red Wing Shoes. Well, imagine that. Yep, I've seen more and more riders wearing old-school Red Wing heritage work boots. In fact, I own many pairs of Red Wings and usually slap on a pair of #1907 for casual rides (of course, riding is on hold at the moment.) Wanna pair for yourself? If so, hit the annual warehouse sale Oct.11-14 in Red Wing, an event where you can score a pair of "seconds" at a bargain price.

Red Wing Shoes

Not exactly the #875, but my #1907 do the job pretty damn good for riding.
And, yes, I do drink a lot of coffee from a Triumph mug.

100,000 Miles? Ain't Nothin'

Our Man-In-the-Field, while covering the Harley-Davidson 115th anniversary event in Seattle, rode the distance from Milwaukee and banged-out a notable mileage accomplishment on the faithful BMW K1200GT; it hit 100,000 miles. Why, that's rather bad-ass for a bike. Worries? None at all; just keep riding. So, for shits-and-giggles, here are a few pix of the accomplishment and some Harley junk. (yawn).

The miles will roll on and on. No problem.

Out thatta way, somewhere. For sure it ain't Toledo.

Harley guy with Harley helmet-doo-rag thing.
No clue who he is; maybe an actor from Hollywood. Or a guy from Toledo.
Stickers that are, well, stickers of protest, confusion, anarchy, mayhem or conformity.

What? A Return To Riding?

Well, not really. But I did enjoy a little seat time on Little Timmy's new old-school 1977 BMW. Need to fire off a huge thank-you to all members of the Red Wing Ironworks Motorbike Club who have been instrumental in helping me make solid progress in my recovery. Thanks for the food, the cards, the gifts cards, other gifts, the help/advice and friendship. All of you make riding and friendship important.

Some photos of events that I missed...

....while I get healed up. And for the record, my riding season is over for now. Anywhoooo, here are a few pics from Mark's recent trip to Sturgis. Enjoy.

Hello There....

Home from the hospital and the work to recovery continues. It's improving, fortunately, thank goodness. It's time to kick-ass, take-names and move forward. On the top-side, I hope to be way, way better - if not back to normal - in about a month. The down-side is that I likely won't return to motorsickle riding until next year. Could be worse, I suppose. However, I just want to thanks to everyone for the help, support and understanding.

Well, it has been an difficult two weeks

Unfortanely, I had a bad bike accident two weeks ago. My brain is trying to recover. In the meantime, i may try to post some random motorsickle photos. Hopefully, i will get there.
