Old Stuff That Moves Fast

Found plenty of that at the AHRMA races this past weekend at Road 'Merica in Elkhart Lake, Wis., which, by the way, ain't no cheese capital of Wisconsin. It is the place for gear heads. More about that in tomorrow's posting, I am sure. Until then, here is a ton o' pix to oggle.

Even the Canadians showed up.

Perhaps one of the rarest and most expensive bikes I've had the pleasure of seeing up front: The Britten. Only 10 were made, and here is one of them. This bike was ahead of its time 30 years ago, and still is.

Who does not like a Bultaco?

Steve McQueen replica that is well done.

Lining up for the track. You get a great mixed of bikes in every AHRMA race.

This Norton was a beast. Man, it had an exhaust howl that was dead sexy.

Loved the BSA.

Old my ass; these cats can still drop knees.

Say what you will, Cletus, but green is all good.

Guzman? Say what? Bueller? Bueller?  Anyone?

Is Wes Cooley in the house? Found your superbike.

Were the shit happens: in the paddock.

Triumph 675 that looked marvey That is code word for marvelous.

More green bikes. Imagine that.

Lots O' Pics From British Bike Co-op Rally

If you didn't go, then you missed it and that is your fault. In the mean time, suck it up and look at some pictures. Held for the 20th year at the Eagle Cave Resort near Blue Water, Wis.

Mixed bag of parts made this early 70s Triumph

Well said

Stickers; some vintage bikes just need 'em.

Yes, there is a Rising Sun, Wis. Been there.

Triumph girl from Milwaukee.

You don't see these colors anymore.

From the days when British bikes tried to compete with
new off road machines. It did not go over so well.

Good to turnout of some 70s era rides.

Engines and good paint.

More from the 70s.

Who don't like no orange Norton?

This was an awesome flat tracker. Looked sharp and ready to race.

Getting the day's bikes lined up for all to do a look-see.

The only entry the radical class.

Did a stop in Richland Center to visit Frank's old place.

Lots of Triumphs. Plenty to go around.

Campers, tents and yes, an old school bus. Home is where you make it.

No rally is complete without a hooker reference.

Talking young hipsters? Politics? Too much beer the night before? Nope. Talking British bikes, yo.

From The Dept. of It Is Thursday

And what are you going to do this weekend? British Bike Co-op Rally, that's what. Head out to one of our favorite areas to ride motorcycles, the Wisconsin Driftless zone (where glaciers feared to dare eight billion years ago). Rally HQ is near Blue River, Wis. at the Eagle Cave Resort. Trust me, good camping, great new and vintage British bikes (and anything else that shows up), and great people to meet. Me? I am heading there early tomorrow, taking the twisty route, of course. For details, go here:

Newest Member From Down South?

Sure, we like to spread the word about the Red Wing Ironworks Motorbike Club. You never know who may take an interest. Our Man In The Field is on a journalistic mission in Mexico to cover, of all things, cows. He met dairy farmer Jubentino Pedroza in Encarnacion de Diaz, Mexico. Jubentino is a dedicated farmer for sure, but man-oh-man, he loves motorcycles, too. He enjoys riding his Yamaha FZ25 all over down there. A happy man who was more than happy to receive one of our cards. Who knows, could be a trip down that way some day.

And To Think We Saw It At Bauhaus

And we saw it all. Lots of bikes turned out for the Bauhaus Brew Labs vintage bike night, hosted during the second Thursday's of the month on these nice summer nights. Well attended with lots of different scoots, both young and old. Of course, there is great beer, too. A few pics from last night's action....

Vespa action. Pretty orange, too.

Who doesn't like a GS850? Don't see many of these around any more.

A very nice 70s CB750. Honda make this one again, please.

Cars too; a nice Alpha Romeo.

Nice Trumpet.

Plenty of Gootzie's, too.

Plenty o' bikes to see, coming and going.

Noice paint.

We dubbed this Jawa-the-hut.

Like bikes? Plenty were here.

Old, very, very old. BSA perhaps?

Even the German car makers showed up.
