Bad ass roads....

More scary than some of that lumpy stuff that passes for pavement in the Cheese state.... Ha.

Sculpture is coming together....

Thanks to last night's full moon/eclipse event, work came at a fevered pitch in the Ironwork's art studio on the burnable sculpture that will be sacrificed during the Octofest/Big Burn on Oct. 10. Never one to fully reveal what goes up in flames, our resident artist Fescue did reveal a clue based on the photo below, If you know the man, you'll know the art.

The Moto Collective 4th Friday......

We hit the Moto Collective in NE Minneapolis for its Fourth Friday function last night. It's an open house to socialize, swill beer, tell stories and obviously talk bikes. Check the Moto Collective link to the right for further details. The idea and concept is awesome and a great way to network with other riders. We met a couple of guys who run the place and they are an enthusiastic lot.  Rumor has it that Moto Collective will continue its Fourth Friday event through the winter that will host - much like we do here at the Ironworks Club house - motorcycle movie night. How cool is that? And presented here are photos from last night's gathering.

Rumors are afoot

Little Timmy's VooDoo Lounge will be open for business tonight. Bring what you will, Willis. 7 p.m. the doors open.

Meant to post this one a few days ago.....

but that thing called a job sorta got in the way. Mark came over from Fondy Lac for some two-wheeled therapy on Wednesday. Neal came down from the Twin Cities-way with Eric Tretbar, who made the movie, "Girl Meets Bike" (the link is off to the right). Catch the movie; Minnesota made, produced and all of that fine stuff. Hopefully, there will be more moto-centric movies to come from Eric.  As for the ride, Neal, Mark and Eric rounded out the day with a jaunt to Wildcat Mountain.  Bill had to go to work. (Boo hoo). But a swell time was had by all.

It's Monday.....

and we're already looking for things to do this weekend. Talk about wishing the week away. Anyhoooo, Friday night is the last night of the season for the casual gathering at the Moto Collective in NE Minneapolis. Never been there; could make a mighty fine field trip. We could also make a swing by a certain establishment where a certain bar-tending child works (he's 22 for all you pucker butts). He's been known to whip-up some mighty fine cocktails. And the beer ain't too shabby, neither. Go here for details:

Once and a while you come across something

that echoes a good sentiment of what it is all about. Oddly, it's in a commercial for a Taiwanese bank. This could be us before long.......

This is what we did today....

Rode Motorsickles. The Fall flood run, Ironwork's version.

Not sure who had the idea of mixing dead animals as headwear with motorcycles, but Tim Flat out rocks the look.

Angry biker sentiment. Arrrgggggggh. Aliens, birthers, Area 51 and sasquatches.

This was on an old Goldwing. I thought you were supposed to meet the nicest people on Honda's? Guess not.

The steed for the day, thanks to Little Timmy.

Why it is Paul, Jr. and his Pops......

The fall flood run is.....

Saturday and the weather looks good. Certain that there will be some back road ride afoot, drinking of coffee, people watching, pirate satire, general mockery of our presidential candidates and all things stoopid, beer/liquor in someone's backyard with a fire pit. (uhhhh, that would be you, Bill.)

MNSS weekend in pictures.

Minnesota North Shore Shindig, way up in the Arrowhead region, this past weekend. Adventure bike ride based out of Finland, MN. It is to the Arrowhead region what the Driftless area is to SE Minnesota/west-central Wisconsin; endless twisty gravel roads. Was advised that newbies should partner-up. Believe it; this is a very remote area of Minnesota and any sort of break down or mishap means you are walking miles to the nearest anything or spending a very cold night out in the deep woods; (It got down to the low 30s on Friday night.) I think this is some of the most physically demanding riding I've done in a very long time. A big thanks to the guys up north for putting this thing on, and to Mike, our guide, who mother -henned us rookies back to camp safe and sound after a solid day of riding. Thankfully Rob's Beamer and my Triumph made it back home none the worse for wear. Met a lot of great people from all walks of life, for sure.

....And on another official club proclamation: PBR is now officially banned from consumption by anyone in the club. Trust me on this one. You bladder will thank you.

Party on Garth, we're number one....

...at being drunk, that is. Recent article lists Red Wing as the number one drunk town in Minnesota. Blame our proximity to Wisconsin.

It's officially Labor Day weekend, and grilling hot dogs is gonna get old in a hurry.....

Why not attend a motorcycle hillclimb on Sunday? And it's in our very own backyard, practically. And if that isn't enough, it's in Wisconsin. You can buy beer there on Sundays, yo.

The details

And on the weekend of Sept. 19/20th, another hill climb that really is in our backyard:
