Game Day Prep?

The annual Pop Cycle Derby is on for Saturday in spite of extraordinarily crappy roads, low temps and more f***ing snow for Friday eve. But hey, if you got big balls, why not. Some photos of prep work.

Yes, it did take four to push a bike from a basement to a driveway.

Over the hump. See the road? They will be like that come Saturday. Got knobs?

Snow? There is plenty to spare.

When The Weather Turns To Shit...

The shit goes random. Pictures and whatnot. And most of the whatnot is from this weekend's Big Turn Music Festival in Red Wing. Hey, hipsters: yes, this town does do a music fest in the dead of winter and it is kick ass with well over 100 different bands playing a lot of different stuff. Outside of that, any thing else that makes this post is highly random.

4onthefloor is the band you want to see. But they like tables, too.

Key Kids of Nortfield. I'd catch them if you can.

Red Sky Warning from LaCrosse.

Dessa packed the Sheldon Theater. See good music at this place.
Where a US President once sat while visiting the Beer City.

The Coolest Motorcycle Shop in Milwaukee?

It ain't nowhere but The Shop in South Milwaukee. (That would be the actual town of South Milwaukee. Yep, it's a real town, Sparky.) These guys are true wrenchers and groove on the classic bikes that are Japanese, German, British, and yes, even French. Want that classic bike fixed or re-worked? These are you guys. And the best part of visiting is this place not only fixes old-school stuff, it is sorta a mini-museum. Tim was a swell guy letting us in to look, chat and ogle over some very bad-ass machines. Trust us, it's worth making the stop if you travel that way. As usual, a few pitchers.....

Brett, AKA Mr. Honda, checks out a fine, green Triumph.
Yes, I'd like that for my birthday this summer. Hint hint hint.

A very early Excelsior-Henderson. Not to be confused with the the ones that were barely
made in Minnesota nearly 20 years ago by a couple of hucksters. The factory now makes kitchen counter tops. Go figure.

Tim gives Mark the details of the French bike that goes waaaay back.

Matchless, a very cool bike from across the pond.

Honda twin that has probably hauled-ass a time or two at Road America during the AHRMA races.

Yes, there was an English bike named Rex.

East German DKW: made by Commies back then; bad ass now.

More of the French bike; Stooopid me: I didn't catch the name.

Sure, we like the Exceelsior Henderson, but we also had a thang for the Triumph banner back there.

Mama Tried

It was a swell time at the Mama Tried motorcycle gathering in Milwaukee this weekend. Flat track racing in a hockey rink? Sure, why not. Bike builds that go far beyond Harley Davidson? Yah, you betcha? A crap ton of pictures? Yep, and here you go:

MMN Is This Saturday

It is time once again for Motorcycle Movie Night this Saturday, and Sir Robert is hosting. Bring what you will to make the good times happen. (Your mom is not invited, however. We don't need lectures about wearing mittens, long underwear and stocking hats.) Tell winter to go suck it, bring a good attitude, a good story and the usual made-up lies any motorcycle adventure. As usual, the mayhem starts at 7 p.m.

Wear a stylish winter hat, like this guy.
It is a MMN tradition since 1962.

Walt Ride 2019 Dates Set

The game plan is June 10 to June 18 with eastern Tennessee  serving as the hub of Walt Ride 2019. There will be some side action, if you desire, to attend the BMW rally in Lebanon, Tenn. which runs June 13-15. Go to rally or ride the twisty roads of the Volunteer State. Take yer pick. Looking to line up VBR accommodations now. Should be a swell time by all. More finite details to follow. Mark your calendars; let the boss know you ain't working; let your wife now you need time to bond with yer crew. Whatevah. Go ride.

Planning in action

Ride along, and you, too, can meet the Mayor of Tennessee. It's the one on the right.

Join These Guys

Twin Cities Adventure Riders..... check out the link and then join up at the Meetup Link (that is where ya get access to the top secret stuff and such...) The group's got a few things afoot for the upcoming riding season, which by the way, ain't too far off.

Also, the Pop-Cycle Derby is less than a month off. Never fails to be fun. Donald Q. always puts on a good event with this derby. Needless to say I finished a near dead-ass last due to some navigational errors. Apparently, my rally sheet flew off and I don't know my left from right. Note to self: small clipboards work wonders.

When The Going Gets Weird....

The weird go to Team Strange.
Hit the link to get into some riding fun with Team Strange.

Old School: The Way It Outta Be

Every so often, you run into someone who makes what we do interesting and more fun. We met Brittney Olsen today the Progress International Motorcycle Show in Minneapolis. She was there to promote some antique bikes and racing. All, cool stuff. Check out the websites for the run down.

Always good to talk with the peeps that wanna keep the historic stuff going.

Likes Triumphs. But hey, the Indian is bad ass, too.

Boy, I wish I had a better photo.
I used to be a real photojournalist, ya know.

Meantime, At The Bike Show....

A few from the Progressive International Bike Show in Minneapolis. (P.S. - yes my cell phone sucks for inside pictures. Quit yer whining and go take up a hobby, like bowling)

Little Timmy rides the Way-Back machine. Mr.Peabody? Where are you?

AHRMA racing bike with bunny sticker. Who wouldn't wanna race that?

I miss my ol' ZRX. Hey, Ma, can I have one of these for my birthday?

Indian iron. Not the new stuff.

Kawasaki Superbike.

I could see this being a fun bike to slay the ABC roads.

Sazooks old and new.

Old stuff.

More old stuff.
