Iron Butt Legend Ron Ayres has passed.

Details here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/IBARiders/

The man wrote the bible on long distance riding with "Going the Distance" and a great account about the legendary Iron Butt Rally with "Against the Wind ""Against the Clock. Read 'em all to learn what it really takes to do some Iron Butt riding. This guy is a rider's rider and we pay tribute.

The days are getting shorter and there is a chill in the air....

Only means one thing; the 103rd annual Red Wing Ironworks Motorbike Club Octoberfest/Big Burn party is on the books. Pay attention you slobs, and get out yer calendars: the mayhem starts at 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Bill's. There will be Rush River kegs o'beer again (oh yeah), food, lots of smart talk and lies, and of course, the traditional oversized moto art to ignite in a rather small fire pit (how exciting and dangerous all at once.) Be there or spend the rest of your crappy winter moping about what a great freaking party you missed. Boohoo, suckers.

This post officially approved by the first Big Burn party of 1912.

So how bad do you want that new off road bike?

Yikes, take a look at this: Red Bull hare scramble somewhere in Europe. Also note the number of stoopid spectators trying to "catch" the errant bikes.

A link to guy stuff and such

Old bikes, knives, other stupid stuff.....Like Better Homes and Gardens but for dudes.

Most underrated motorcycle road in SE Minnesota?

Why, that would be Houston County Road 4. Laid down recently with a new grippy topcoat;  little to no traffic; beautiful scenery; big fat sweepers and copious amounts of speed. Unfortunately it flattens out near Black Hammer, but if'n you gots an adventure bike, you can do a few miles of dirt road to County 10, which ain't too shabby neigther (aside from the recent tar snake job). Get off your ass and get out there.

Who else could possibly endorse this post? Why, Guy Martin, motorcycle bad ass, that's who.

Stelvio Pass from the Swiss and Italian perspective

As ridden by our very own Paul W. with his new bride no less while on an Edelweiss motorcycle tour. They rode the Ducati Multistrada. Note the lack of guard rails. Note how far it is to the bottom in some spots. Note the free-range cows.  Note the narrow roads. That ain't like riding around these here parts of our world. These are cool videos. Enjoy.

Go North

And so they did. Mark and Brett spent four days last week cutting a route across the Yooper Peninsula of Michigan. And don't you know, they made it to Ontario, by golly, too. Photos of the adventure.

Retro classic coolness imported from Iowa

We don't do a lot of endorsements around the ol' Ironworks Motorbike Clubhouse (we have a clubhouse? Since when?) but once and while you meet a hardworking guy who sells stuff that is just too cool not to tell others about. We met Jack of Motor76 at Moto Mania over the weekend and he and biz partner Grant produce some wicked-cool retro motorsickle tees. We came home with a couple. Do yourself a favor and head over to the Moto76 website. These guys are based down the road in good ol' Des Moines, Iowa, and would greatly appreciate any business you can toss their way.

Moto Mania '15; crusty, dusty and dirty.

So you reserve the dirt track at the Steele County Fairgrounds, let people know and wait to see who shows up. That is pretty much the idea behind Moto Mania. It's not a race, just  an opportunity to rip around a dirt half mile with whatever you rode. Chopper? No problem. Sportbike? No problem. Mid 70's Honda CB550? Hey, noooo problemo. Ironworks Motorbike Club reps Tim, Rob and Bill were there to check out. Here is what we saw:

Tim sorta rips around the track. It was lumpy in the corners. Kinda like Tim: lumpy.

At some point, a Go-Pro video will be posted here.

Army reserve psy-ops unit showed up with Humvees and the coolest baddest ass set of speakers ever.

The infield with the continuous ring of dust

This guy did haul ass on some old Triumph

Bar in a box made everyone happy...

....Especially this guy who enjoys a martini in the shade.

Somebody left a little something for Rob on his seat

Not to be confused with Heartbreak Motor Oil. Can you hear me, Warren?

Red Wing man makes trek to Sturgis on 1946 Harley....

He gets the nod from us; He is 83 years old and total hardcore; he is riding it.
