If you are hardcore, you'll do this on New Year's Day

If not, you'll be in the comforts of home watching the Jiffy Pop/Weedeater/Lysol Bowl from the American Motors Stadium in Toledo, Ohio. (North Dakota Welding Institute of Minot Vs. The Wayward Girl's Home of Eastern Oklahoma; now that's a match-up!).

I-Cycle Derby

HQ is Roy's Repair in Mpls, a great place in and of itself, full of motorcycle lore. And it's a great old school repair shop. Monday's forecast is a balmy -1. Not for the meek. Enjoy a few shots from last year's ride.

Film making icon Bruce Brown passes

Known for documentaries on surfing and motorcycling, Brown brought the sport of motorcycling to the American conscious with his film "On Any Sunday". Mr. Brown, sadly passed away on Sunday.

Bruce Brown remembered

No matter how many times we watch "On Any Sunday" it never fails to entertain. And at a time when "bikers" were a notorious lot, Brown captured the true enthusiasm of what riding is about. And don't you forget that, Johnny. A legend and icon, Mr. Brown will be remembered for a great contribution to motorcycling. Do yourself a favor and catch "On Any Sunday" now.

Scenes from the IMS show in Mpls.

Friday night is a swell time to attend: crowds are light; plenty of room to move around and company reps are at ease, and there are a lot of stickers. (Did we mention we are whores for motorsickle stickers? Yes, we are.) Good Gawd, did the new Honda Gold Wing attract a lot of old men. Too many octogenarians swarming around to get a good shot. Oh well.

Old Iron at the Mpls. Ton Up Club Exhibit

Norton. Fast. Dead sexy.

Pink bikes have their place, too.

Old Harleys, the way they outta be.

'65 Triumph. Damn, left the checkbook at home.

Retro modern: Royal Enfield had a nice turnout of bikes.

Tank selfie of two schmoes.

Croig has an exhibit with some cool Mn. inspired bikes

World Superbike ride of  2017 champ Johnny Rea.

Excited to be a part of it all. Brought to you by.... Spectro Oils.
Yes, Spectro oils. The rep made me do this picture.

The flat tracker that Indian should build. It garnered a lot of attention. Build it and they will come. We implored the Indian rep to do so. But what do we know?

One of a kind for now....Hopefully, more will follow.

And yet another angle.

Some kinda BMW bike: RRXRRPGY 1200RRR, I think?
Who cares, it caught my eye and it's bad assery at its finest.

GS tank profile. Anyone know what the white blob is? It ain't the Isle of Man....

Over? Over? I don't think so.

We certainly don't think we're done riding for the year just yet. Yep, the weather will take a major dump this week with plummeting temps, (it's Minne-fooking-sota, for cripe's sake) but it'll bounce back in a dandy fashion. Two upsides: the winter solstice is 10:28 on Dec. 21. That means the days are longer starting on Dec.22. And don't forget about the I-Cycle Derby on Jan. 1, 2018. See, your day ain't so lousy afterall.

I-Cycle Derby info here

In the meantime, a couple of picks from this weekend's riding....
Near the Mississippi River. Takes a minimum maintenance road to get there. Oh yeah.

Atop the bluffs near Lake City.

Motorcycle Movie Night is one week away...

Xmas extravaganza at Little Timmy's house, Saturday, Dec. 9. You could make a motorcycle day of it: go to the Progressive bike show in Mpls for a day excursion and be at movie night by 7 p.m. The perfect weekend plan. Tim swears he's got a great movie none of us have ever, ever, ever, seen before.

Triumph pulls the cover off new models in Mpls.

What possesses two jamokes from Red Wing to drive to Minneapolis to attend the Triumph Bonneville Back In Black Tour on a Thursday eve? Free beer, prolly. Local dealers unveiled some new models at Modist Brewing in the North Loop of Minneapolis last night. More Bobber versions revealed as well as the sorta redesigned but upgraded Tiger 800 and Explorer 1200 adventure bikes (which, by the way, is now the Tiger 1200.) Here is a look in pictures. As usual a swell time was had by all.

Thruxton Cup. Berry, berry nice.

New Tiger 1200. Me likey in red

Revised Tiger 800 XC with more buttons and stuff on it.

Da Cup, again. Hipsters will buy this.

Tank detail of Tiger 800XC. Nice paint.

Speedmaster makes dramatic entrance. Crappy photo. Sorry.

Mpls artist Linda Clayton was on hand to paint Triumph inspired art.
. Unfortunately, she did not give it to us to hang on the wall. By the way, she rides a Ducati. Cool.
